Beginning/Continuing Metal Sculpture
The Evanston Art Center

A multi-level class designed for the self-paced student interested in learning metal working techniques in relation to the functional and sculptural object. Beginning students complete one assigned project while learning oxygen/acetylene welding, cutting, and the use of primary hand and power tools. The remainder of the session exposes beginning and returning students to additional skills used in creating welded sculpture/furniture, and will be used for independent projects. No experience required.

Intro to Metal Art
The Evanston Art Center

An introductory class designed for the student with no experience who wants to learn through instructor-assigned projects. Students will be exposed to basic tool operation and the fundamental cold- and hot-working techniques of cutting, manipulating, and joining metal, and apply them to three assigned projects. There will be opportunity for students to personalize each project.  Students will come away with a sound idea of what can be done with metal to create art, in a supportive environment. Assigned project material is included with tuition fee. Please note: Enrollment open to 1st time EAC Metal Sculpture students only.

Metalsmithing: Beyond the Basics
The Evanston Art Center

For the jewelry student who is comfortable with the basics of soldering, sawing, filing, and polishing, this intermediate-to-advanced class offers the opportunity to explore more ambitious techniques, as well as professional tips and tricks. Weekly demonstrations are tailored to the individual student, and will include skills such as faceted-stone setting, hinges and mechanisms, etching, working with gold, and others.
