Samples play a critical role in my practice. I often begin designing by folding paper and cutting it into strips to make three dimensional "drawings" of form possibilities. From the paper stage I move to working with different metals and fibers and attempt to integrate them into each other. My samples function as both examples of successful and unsuccessful possibilities in material and sketches of potential future work.
